McIntyre League at 19/08/2010
After 14 matches in the McIntyre League Milngavie
have managed to pull back from 8th position to
a very creditable 3rd place.
4 straight wins in a row have allowed the team to
achieve this position.
We have 1 match left, away to Cardross on thurs 2nd Sept,
and hopefully a reasonable result will enable us to retain
3rd spot or possibly even 2nd.
Good luck to those selected for this final match.

Prior to the dinner and presentation a greensome event was held and it has to be reported that CAPTAIN CRAWFORD and playing partner PHIL WARD thrashed the field with an amazing net score of-wait for it-        64.2!!! They will be interested to note that match and h/cap convenor David Johnston was in attendance to witness and check several times their incredible score. Well done Jimmy and Phil.

McIntyre Team finishes season in great style.

Milngavie's last match against Clober GC away from home on 10th Sept finished in an admirable draw.

This resulted in the team having a  final total of 28 points,a clear 6 points ahead of nearest rivals Hilton Park. A superb achievement by all Senior members who participated throughout the season.

We now look forward to the presentation of the cup at Cardross on thurs 24th Sept before which 8 seniors from Milngavie will take part in a Greensome match.

Thereafter on fri 6th November we will be having our own Celebration Dinner at the club preceded by a stableford singles competition with prizes donated by the Senior's Convenor. It is hoped that all seniors who participated including reserves (called up or not called up) will be able to attend.

The cup will be presented at Cardross Golf Club on thurs 24th Sept.

A sincere thanks to all Milngavie Seniors who played in the 15 matches involved including the very supportive reserve players. A similar thanks to Hugh Park for his cuisine, the captain and secretary and indeed all of the committee including  Tambowie for their continual support.

The most significant accolade must be afforded to Wallace Wilson and his team for course preparation and in particular the fantastic job they performed on thurs 20th Aug for keeping the course open in horrendous conditions in order that we could secure a most significant win.

On the same day not one other match was played in the whole of East and West Dunbartonshire!

My sincere thanks again to all,

We are now at the half way stage with 8 matches played. A good achievement by all considering that the number of players available recently has been close to the bare minimum.
