>>>>>Allan Forrest, 4th May 2010, MGC 6th Hole<<<<<
This contribution from Craig Allian
I was playing with Allan Forrest and Ken Mutch yesterday ( Tuesday 4th May) who were both marking their cards off the yellow tees to count towards getting their handicaps re-instated and Allan had a hole in one at the 6th. He used a nine iron.

>>>>>Andy Murrison, 27th September 2009, MGC 12th Hole<<<<<
Rumour has it that Andy had a hole in one in a bounce game. Rumour has it that Andy also generously put a bottle of whisky on the bar the following Saturday for members to celebrate his great achievement. Tam says "rumour" because the whisky was all gone by the time he got there. However he is happy to take everyone's word for it, and offers his hearty congratulations to Gents Championship finalist, Andy. A few words of description from Andy would be much appreciated (the golf shot that is, not the whisky, although a description of the whisky would be nice too!)
This now in from Andy:
It was a particularly fine Sunday morning when Messer's Hay (Duncan), McCabe (Rab) and myself reached the 12th hole. Whilst the banter had been good, the golf had generally been poor and the prospect of losing cash in the team better-ball 'big money game' against the rest of the 8.00 o'clock gang was already an inevitability.
The sun was shining brightly as a 6 iron was chosen and a decent swing appeared to send the ball in the general direction of the hole. Looking straight into the sun I temporarily lost the ball in flight before I thought I saw it pitch and disappear into the hole, a quick look at the guys (and the sound of silence) confirmed that neither had seen it!
As we wandered down the hill I was encouraged to spot a pitch mark where I expected it to be and, with the ball no-where to be seen, confidence was growing as I strolled up the green and was able to confirm the old adage still stands 'if you can't be good be lucky'
This was my second hole in one (having enjoyed success at the 6th many years ago) and tops what has been a great golfing year for me which I've enjoyed immensely

Andy in full follow through...

Having just been beaten in the final of the Dumgoyne Rosebowl on the Monday evening, hubby and I decided on the Tuesday to go up and play 7 holes (to correct our mistakes so to speak). I had just come off the 5th with a lovely birdie and stood on the 6th tee remembering that my pitching wedge the night before had gone in the bunker. So I took my 9 iron and hit a lovely shot on to the green. As I was picking my tee up, my husband started to say loudly, "it's looking really good, it's looking really good" so I stood up just in time to watch my ball roll right to left straight into the hole. What a great feeling - my first hole in one!.

one of the barstaff, not naming any names, Robert Colligan, achieved the rare feat of a hole in one, on the 6th hole during a friendly bounceball match with fellow bar staff member Scott Gordon...... later that night he was spotted 'up the town' looking fetching, celebrating what he hopes to be the first of many for the young Donald Cameron and Thomson Mccrone team member

>>>>>Justin Sloan, July 2009, MGC 5th Hole<<<<<

Milngavie Golf Club recently held its annual Open competition. 135 golfers from 26 clubs from all over the UK took part although it was the local golfers who picked up the silverware.
Ian Jeen won the scratch competition with a 67. Alistair Green won the first class handicap competition with a nett 61 and Norman Thirwell won the second class competition with a nett 64.
But the shot of the day was a drive hit by Justin Sloan from Bellshill Golf Club when he scored a hole in one at the par four, 294 yards, 5th hole.
Milngavie Club Captain Jimmy Crawford said "All golfers dream of having a hole in one and if it happens, it will normally be at a par three, but to have a hole in one at a par four is truly remarkable. We were delighted to present Justin with a bottle of Milngavie Golf Club whisky to mark his achievement"
In golfing terms a hole in one at a par 4 is known as an Albatross, one of the rarest features in golf.

>>>>>Anna Telfer, May 2009, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina<<<<<

Whilst on holiday in South Carolina in May, Anna Telfer scored a hole in one at Myrtle Beach International Club.
"The par 3 14th hole measures 128yards and I played a 6 iron. I knew I'd struck it well and it flew straight at the pin, landed on the green and rolled up and into the cup.
(Without wanting to brag (!!!!!????) this is my 5th hole in one! My first was at the 16th at Milngavie, then the 10th at Windyhill, then at Turnberry in a Greenlees match. One in Spain at the Spanish Seniors in 2005 and now one in America)"

It was the May Medal, 2nd Hole - Hit an Eight Iron bounced once and spun back into the hole.
First hole in one, and the rest of the round was a pile of mince!

>>>>>John McLeod, 12th Hole, 19th April 2009<<<<<

On the beautiful spring Sunday morning of April 19th, enjoying a round of golf at the excellent Milngavie course, I managed to achieve what all golfers aim for. A memorable hole in one at the par 3 twelfth hole, using a 6 iron. "Nice feeling".

I hit a pitching wedge at the sixth hole, in the June Medal on Sunday 1 June. It was a very good shot and, although it was quite hard to see the hole because of the tricky pin position, I thought it had gone in the hole. My fellow competitors, Mags and Miranda, did not see where the ball finished and it was not until we got to the green and checked the hole that we knew for sure. It was my first hole in one and I was delighted that it happened at Milngavie Golf Club!
