Clubgolf is a government initiative to introduce all children to the game of golf by the age of 10. The programme consists of three stages dependent on the skill level and experience of the individual.
Stage One is a 2-year course designed to introduce the children to the sport and to learn skills such as putting, chipping, pitching and full swing. The etiquette of the game is also incorporated throughout the sessions and provides a natural progression to further stages of Clubgolf and onto the golf course.
Stage two targets children who have a reasonable amount of on course experience and who play the game regularly. This further develops the skills learnt in Stage one but also introduces the player to course management, pre-shot routine and shot shaping.
Although there is three stages, stage three is currently taught in very few places due to it being targeted at elite players.
Milngavie Golf Club offers the clubgolf experience in a manner which is safe, fun and productive for all involved. Qualified staff will carry out all sessions. The programme allows each child to meet new friends, which will naturally become their golfing partner/opponent.
The sessions start on Sunday 1st May 2011 and run till the end of June.
The cost for each course is as follows;
Stage 1 £30
Stage 2 £50
If your child has taken part before and would like to try clubgolf at Milngavie, there will be a special taster session on 24th April 2011, 12.30-2.00pm.
