FRASER & McLEAN TO REPRESENT SCOTLAND

David McLean and Kenny Fraser were the winners of the Scottish leg of the Algarve Golf Trophy, held at Glasgow's Ranfurly Castle Golf Club. They scored 42 points, the same as the second place pair of John Ferguson and Jamie Moglia, but topped the leaderboard by virtue of a better back nine.

The betterball competition as part of the series of Algarve Golf Trophy events taking place throughout UK and Ireland this summer. Players arriving for the day were welcomed with a gift from the Algarve Promotion Bureau, sponsors of the day, before heading out onto the course.

Following the golf, players made their way back to the club house for a magnificent Portuguese themed buffet lunch followed by the prize presentations.

The field of over 140 were competing in this invitational day to qualify for the Grand Final of the Algarve Golf Trophy, to be held in the Portugal later this year. David and Kenny can now look forward to three nights accommodation, two rounds of golf, welcome party and a prize presentation gala dinner in the stunning setting of the Algarve.

The Algarve Golf Trophy was launched in 2008 and following its success, the Algarve Promotion Bureau are once again supporting a series of events in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. The chosen clubs are hosting a variety of events from members and guests days to open weeks.

The winners from the UK and Ireland will be joined in Portugal by winners from the other Algarve Golf Trophy competitions, which are being held in Germany, Sweden, France, Spain and Italy creating a truly international final.

As if that's not enough....

Yesterday (29/9/09) Kenny also won the Scottish Benevolent Shipping Association 'Donald Trophy' yesterday at Barassie with 39 points from a field of 80 golfers. There is no other prizes other than first place which is your name to the trophy. Always a big turn out as there's desperation (and luck) to achieve first place and get your name on this very rare trophy.
