Charity Tournament Hole in One Surprise!

On Sat 19 September Milngavie Golf Club  played host to the Inaugural Glasgow L'Arche Texas Scramble. L'Arche is a charity for people with learning disabilities ("We will promote the gifts of people with learning disabilities and enable them to take a full part in L'Arche and society." taken from the L'Arche mission statement)

 Players from Milngavie , other local golf clubs and as far afield as Crowwood, Airdrie, Buchanan Castle and Ross Priory competed for the magnificent trophy sponsored by the Trophy Centre, Partick and the fantastic first prize of a four ball at Glasgow Gailes arranged by Killermont Golf Club. Many businesses and individuals willingly and generously donated wonderful prizes for the raffle and silent auction including American Golf, The Carrick, Loch Lomond, Bearsden Golf Club, Douglas Park Golf Club, The Beardmore Hotel, The  Chapelton Inn, Strathaven, the Lennox Advertiser , Wm Tracy Ltd. and Pelo Hairdressers, Gt Western Road.

 Before the winning team was declared the organisers had to find a prize for Stephen Campbell who had a hole in one at the 12^th! Congratulations to him!!

 The winners were:

• E. McDonald, Team Orr Nearest the Pin on 2^nd hole
• J. Logan, Bruins Reunited Longest drive on 13^th hole
• Brian T's Team Third prize - score 54.4 net
• Bruins Reunited Second prize - score 54 net
• Sean's Swingers First prize - score 52.5 net

 L'Arche Glasgow would like to thank all the members of Milngavie Golf Club for their support, especially Captain Jimmy Crawford, Secretary Susan Woods, Hughie, Anne, Scott and Robert behind the bar and in the kitchen, who made everyone very welcome.

 Discussions are underway to make arrangements for next year's tournament to be included in the club's diary.
